Irene Area Community Foundation
The Irene Community Foundation was formed in 2006 to provide financial support to charitable and nonprofit purposes in the Irene area at the recommendation of a local Board of Directors. It is also in place to act as a vehicle for charitable giving for anyone who would like to give back to the community of Irene. Since 2006, over $157,000 in donations have been made to the fund allowing for $14,000 in grants to be given back to the community.
Grants
As the Irene Community Foundation grows, so will our ability to give grants to the community. Since inception, over $14,000 has been given to support charitable work in Irene. For more information on grants from the Irene Community Foundation, please contact our advisory council members.

Irene-Wakonda Seniors Awarded Scholarships
The Irene Area Community Foundation/Sherman and Kimiko Promise Scholarship awarded 14 scholarships to Irene-Wakonda seniors during graduation ceremonies May 16, 2026.
Thirteen seniors, who attended Irene-Wakonda for all four years of high school, were awarded $1,400 scholarships. Those students were: Addison Brockmueller, Bridget Logue, Katelyn Tallman, LaTika Blakey, Natalie Girard, Noah Hansen, Paige O’Daniel, Rylee Nielson, Savannah Hoxeng, Taylor Aune, Alyssa Kirschenman, Gianna Logue, and Jocee Llewelyn. Aiden Mulder, who attended I-W for one year, was awarded $350.
All these students will be eligible to apply for additional scholarships, for up to four years, as long as they maintain adequate grades and advance towards graduation.
